The Apex Legends Fight or Fright event is a celebration of everything spooky, ushering in the October tradition of scaring your friends senseless. The event lasts for an entire month, beginning on October 4 and running until November 1. Each week features a limited-time mode in the battle royale and a rotating list of cosmetics available to purchase.

This will be the third time that Fight or Fright has made an appearance during October, only missing out last year due to the Monsters Within event. It brings with it a whole host of spooky Apex Legends skins and several rotating Apex Legends limited-time modes including the hugely popular Gun Run mode, the nightmarish Shadow Royale, and fan favourite Control.

Fight or Fright dates and schedule Every week brings with it a different limited-time mode, and each LTM includes a nighttime version of a popular map. The Fight Or Fright schedule is as follows:

October 4 to October 11

Shadow Royale on Olympus After Dark Map

October 11 to October 18

Gun Run on Estates After Dark, Skulltown, and Fragment East

October 18 to October 25

Control on Lava Siphon, Barometer, and Labs After Dark

October 25 to November 1

Shadow Royale on Olympus After Dark

Apex Legends Fight or Fright modes There are currently three LTMs scheduled to appear during the Fight or Fright event, each one lasting a week, with Shadow Royale both opening and closing the month-long scare-fest. Here are the limited-time modes in Apex Legends Fright Night:S

Shadow Royale Shadow Royale is a special game type that begins as any more trios match would, only when you die you are spawned back in a powerful ‘Shadow Form’. While in Shadow Form, you have enhanced movement abilities like a double jump and extra movement speed, but you’re limited to melee only.

You will continue to respawn as long as you have at least one living squadmate, so make sure you’re using the shadow form to scout ahead, flank opponents, and poke away with the powerful melee attack.

Gun Run Gun Run is Apex Legends’ take on the classic Gun Game, and it debuted with the most recent event Beast of Prey. It sees four teams of three players face off against each other, with every kill granting you a different weapon.

Teams must work their way through the entirety of Apex Legends’ weapon list in order to secure victory. The key difference between a regular game of Gun Game is that the weapon lists are shared by an entire team, meaning that if you secure a kill, you jump to the next available weapon that your squadmates aren’t using.

This game mode takes place in a smaller arena than you may be used to when playing the battle royale, with the firefights being contained in either Estates After Dark, Skulltown, or Fragment East. Thankfully, looting is the last thing you’ll need to worry about, as each player has unlimited ammo with the weapon they’re currently using.

When a player reaches the last of the tiered weapons, they are given a throwing knife, and it’s only by securing a kill with this throwing knife that their team can win the match.

Control Control, like the name implies, tasks you with controlling three flags in a smaller, more contained POI from one of the larger battle royale maps. Controlling one or more flags will mean your team starts to accrue points, with the first team to hit 100 points claiming victory.

You respawn when you die, and with that are given the chance to change loadout, and even the legend you’re playing as. It is a truly classic multiplayer experience, and gives players a low-pressure firefight-heavy gamemode to get their teeth into.
