Whether you can get to the reopened Natural History Museum or not, a new online festival has plenty to keep the kids entertained and engaged with nature. Tune Into Nature runs for two weeks. It’s designed to get families out and about, discovering wildlife on your doorstep. The page is sprouting with ideas to help your kids get hands-on with the natural world. Downloadable resources help families learn how plants grow and show you how to keep a ‘plant diary’; or become a ‘citizen scientist’ and report on plants you’ve found in your area. The site also has tips on encouraging wildlife into your garden, recipes for using herbs in creative ways (we just learned what a shower melt is), a game of nature-based bingo, and a big Family Quiz set for 10.30am on Friday (31 July).  There’s plenty more to discover over on the Tune Into Nature site, including answers to the following intriguing question: Would a pigeon in London sound the same as a pigeon in Birmingham? Tune Into Nature (in association with Pukka Herbs) runs 27 July to 9 August on the Natural History Museum’s website.
